Moneywise Doctor Book Launch: A Milestone for Medics

When the Moneywise Doctor Book first began as scattered notes on my phone, I never imagined the journey it would take, or the community it would build. What started as a simple mission to make money clearer for doctors has now grown into a national conversation about financial clarity, confidence and control. And today, seeing it land in the hands of medics across the UK feels surreal.

Over 580 medics pre-ordered before it was even printed. Hundreds more gifted copies to colleagues who were overwhelmed, burnt out, or quietly struggling with the hidden financial traps inside the NHS. And now, the first batch of 250 author copies has arrived—fresh from the printer, fully updated after the Autumn Budget, and already finding their way into clinics, mess rooms and GP surgeries.

This wasn’t powered by advertising or algorithms.
It happened because medics showed up for medics.

Why This Book Exists

For years, medics have asked the same questions:

  • “Why is tax so confusing?”

  • “Why does earning more feel like earning less?”

  • “Why did nobody teach us this?”

The reality is simple: medicine teaches you how to save lives, not how to save money.
And yet every decision we make – rotas, sessions, locums, pensions, private work, has financial consequences that ripple through our lives for decades.

Many of the conversations that shaped this book came from inside our community spaces and through the emails, voice notes and late-night messages you sent while wrestling with your own financial uncertainty.

That’s why the internal article, Helping Medics Build Financial Freedom, became one of the foundations behind this project. It helped define the universal goal: medics don’t necessarily want to retire early, they want options.

And options come from clarity.

Updated After the Autumn Budget

Most finance books are outdated the moment they’re printed.

This one isn’t.

The entire manuscript was re-written line by line after the Autumn Budget—NI changes, ISA reforms, frozen thresholds, pension updates, dividend tax rules—everything.

A doctor in our community said it best:

“This is the most up-to-date finance book in the UK.”

They were right.

We rebuilt whole chapters to reflect what medics actually face right now:
the 60% tax trap, the hidden cliff edges, the impact of extra sessions, the risks of private income, the confusion around pensions, and the stumbling blocks that quietly erode take-home pay.

You can also read more on the background in our internal post, The Moneywise Doctor Book Launch.

The Moment It Became Real

Nothing prepares you for holding your own book for the first time.

The weight of it.
The smell of the pages.
The thought of medics across the UK flipping through it on night shifts, in GP rooms, on post-call mornings, or on flights during annual leave.

It’s deeply personal.

Because every chapter carries the stories, questions and frustrations medics shared over the years. Your challenges shaped this book just as much as the writing did. The structure, the examples, the language—every part of it was built to make finance feel less chaotic and more controllable.

Whether you’re a trainee confused about pensions, a GP struggling with tax thresholds, or a consultant trying to build long-term stability, this was written for you.

A Bestseller – Because of You

This week, something unexpected happened:
the book hit Amazon Best Seller status.

It appeared next to The Intelligent Investor and A Random Walk Down Wall Street – titles I admire. Seeing this project stand beside them was overwhelming.

But the success didn’t come from marketing.

It came from medics supporting medics:

  • ordering

  • gifting

  • reviewing

  • sharing

  • recommending

  • sending screenshots to colleagues

  • writing messages that said, “This is exactly what I needed.”

The win belongs to the community.

What’s Inside the Book

Clear Explanations Without Jargon

Real-world examples written in plain language that actually makes sense – no fluff, no unnecessary complexity.

Tax Traps Every Medic Should Know

From the 60% tax cliff edge to pension tapering to the strange quirks that quietly reduce take-home pay.

A Blueprint for Building Stability

A simple, structured approach that helps medics gain clarity, reduce overwhelm and rebuild control over their financial decisions.

The Freedom Framework

Borrowed from years of coaching medics: Stability → Momentum → Scale → Freedom.

The goal isn’t early retirement, it’s control.

A Community Effort

The Moneywise Doctor Book wasn’t built in isolation.

It grew through conversations, workshops, webinars, mistakes, victories, setbacks and small breakthroughs shared by medics across the UK.

And because it was shaped by the very people it was meant to serve, it now carries a level of relevance and clarity that most generic finance books simply can’t match.

If you want a deeper behind-the-scenes look at how the project began, you can explore our internal article Helping Medics Build Financial Freedom.

Thank You

We did this together.

This book is not perfect. No book is.
But it is honest, updated, practical and built for one purpose:

To give medics clarity in a system that is anything but clear.

If you’d like to support the launch or start reading today, you can order it here:
