2 years ago, I left the safety of my salaried doctor job, seeking more family time, freedom, and flexibility
Despite already having side hustles that paid me, I found myself drawn to doing more to help fellow doctors make smarter financial decisions. Witnessing colleagues fall victim to financial salespeople disguised as financial advice for doctors made me upset. These were brilliant medics, but they were either too busy or didn’t understand how the financial system could work for or against them. Some of the mistakes were very costly.
Initially, I continued to answer countless calls from colleagues who knew about my experience in personal finance and had been reaching out to me for years whenever they needed an opinion on major financial decisions. This was fine initially when it was just 15–20 doctors. However, this suddenly became unmanageable as I spent countless hours, dealing with these inquiries. My freedom was slipping away! This was taking away precious family time. So, I received a nudge from my board of directors (my toddler and wife) to figure out a way to continue helping others without sacrificing more time with them. This was just short of a riot act!
And thus, MoneyWiseDoctor.com was born to answer these financial queries for a broader audience and to publish these tips to help doctors make wiser financial decisions.
12 months later, thousands of medics have read our blog, and our weekly newsletter has sent almost 20,000 emails with a 50% open rate. Thanks to your support, we’ve expanded to podcasts, YouTube channels, and seminars.
